Apple’s OSX Mountain Lion Debuts and Just $19.99! But Wait there’s more!

Apple has just released its latest version of OSX named Mountain Lion. The feature rich update to the MAC lineup brings with it over 200 new features, productivity tools, applications, iOS integration, and all for just $19.99, even a late night infomercial couldn’t pack this much value into twenty bucks.

The latest release is bringing the entire mobile and desktop worlds much closer by bridging the gap between iCloud and other well-known features in iOS such as Notes, Reminders, iMessages, Notification Center, and Gamecenter. This comes as great news for users that have multiple devices such as an iPhone, iPad, and Macbook by integrating a complete experience across all devices.

The fun doesn’t stop there; the new OS has a new feature called Power Nap which will periodically update many MAC applications and downloads software updates while the system sleeps, as long as it is connected to a power source. A new built in Dictation tool allows users talk to type functionality, providing direct dictation to text conversion, for hands free typing.

Social media is also prominent with Mountain Lion. New Twitter integration allows tweeting directly from many MAC applications and OSX now provides notifications through Notification Center any time you are mentioned in a tweet or direct messaged. Facebook integration is also on its way, with a fall release scheduled, it will provide direct application integration with Facebook to stay connected no matter what application you are using.

Mountain Lion is available now from the MAC APP Store for $19.99. The upgrade will require the following minimum specifications.

  • iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
  • MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
  • MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
  • MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
  • Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
  • Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
  • Xserve (Early 2009)
