Cloud and Mobility Big Buzz at Breakaway
The big buzz at CompTia’s annual Breakaway event has been the need for IT solution providers to provide cloud and mobility solutions. It is quite apparent in the sessions that have been provided, in the water cooler talk in the hallways, and throughout the community that it is no longer something to talk about, but something to make happen.
In previous years at Breakaway the cloud talk has been a big part of the content. The major difference this year is participants and educators are no longer saying “the cloud is coming”, instead the discussions are about integration, monetization, and support of cloud solutions. Cloud continues to be at the forefront of the demand from customers. This has been driven by high profile marketing campaigns and education from large vendors such as Microsoft.
With the adoption of mobile devices, smartphones, and tablets in the business and consumer world, the need for mobility services has been created. Many of the participants I talked to felt they had a good grasp on cloud but needed to understand mobility. Many are unsure of how to create services around mobility. The big question is how. Most are not yet clear on how to create services and solutions to provide to customers.
There are not yet many supporting solutions around mobility. As vendors begin to create products that support mobility and provide resources for their partners; mobility services will become more understood and prominent. Until those products make it to the scene the buzz around mobility will remain just that, “buzz”.
