The Amazing and Crazy Stuff I come across looking for Tech News

Writing everyday for Looks Cloudy has me searching the Internet for relevant news in our industry. One thing that always surprises me in research is the amount of truly bizarre press releases I come across.
There are multiple press releases daily for the usual, the who’s suing who, company achievements and accomplishments, new products and of course mergers and acquisitions. But the ones that stand out really stand out and I have highlighted a few of my favorites for this week.
Crowdfunding Breast Implants, MyFreeImplants.com Pays for 1,000 Boob Jobs
Who even knew this sort of thing existed. There have been many sites that have popped up recently like www.kickstarter.com that provide social and crowdfunding for projects but for breast augmentation? The “bigger” question I have is who is giving money to this and what do they get in return? This may require a full-fledged expose.
Talk about jumping on a media bandwagon! This company is sending Jennifer Anniston an electronic cigarette “Deluxe Starter Kit” as an engagement present. Well first off, I hope she smokes, and second is this really news worthy as a technology press release? Well I guess they got me to write about it.
For $150, Send Your Kids To Mars. Sort of.
Considering it would take about three years to send the kids to mars and three years back $150 sounds like a pretty good deal, but I don’t think my kids have ever given me a reason to send them away for six years. This press release is not about carting off the kids for six years instead it’s about a cardboard robotic arm kit that can be purchased to teach kids about mars. Oh well for those of you that were hopeful, knocking off a third of the 18 years you’ve got em for just ain’t happening!
GCFLearnFree.org Launches New Mouse Tutorial
Thank god someone finally created a tutorial for one of the most difficult computer peripherals ever made! I mean how did we ever get by? Oh and teaching someone to use one is even more of a difficult task. I would rather teach my daughter to drive than to try to teach someone to use a mouse! My favorite part of the press release is this: “GCFLearnFree.org’s mouse tutorial is free and available to those users that have Adobe Flash Player downloaded onto their computer.” I mean if they can’t even use a mouse how are they supposed to be able to know how to download adobe flash player?
