If things weren’t bad enough for Nokia

Nokia had a rather impressive showing with their new Windows Phone 8 debut. The Nokia Lumia 820 and 920 were prominently featured and the Nokia hardware emphasized its camera features, especially its Pureview Image Stabilization technology. This new feature provides compensation for shaky hands and video demos were very impressive making many rethink their opinions of the troubled company.
Unfortunately the positive impression didn’t last for long as sources revealed the Pureview Demos were not created with the Nokia camera but instead utilized high-end DSLR cameras and technology. The proof is in the following video:
In a blog post on Nokia’s site the company admits that the video was a simulation and that they owe the public an apology. They state that they should have posted a disclaimer to such fact and that the video was not shot with the Lumia 920. The company posted this video to demonstrate the actual Lumia 920 Pureview technology in action.
The company has been hit with some hard breaks recently. The day of its new Lumia phones release saw the stock drop 11% in a single day. The company is dropping phone prices and has had to cut numerous jobs in order to maintain. Some think that aligning with Microsoft has not been the best decision for the company. The Windows Phone platform has a long way to go to reach a market share dominated by Google Droid, and Apple iOS.
Hopefully Nokia can pull out of this slump of bad times. The company has been creating some truly impressive hardware, however the company may want to look at diversifying it’s offering to include Droid to truly gain the market share they deserve.
