iPhone 5 Goes on Sale, First batch Sells out in 60 Minutes
The new iPhone 5 is already selling like crazy. The Pre-order went live at 12:00am PST and in just 60 minutes the shipment dates moved from one week to two weeks. The new iPhone, which has been highly anticipated, has been the talk of the media for the last few months.
Most of the rumors and leaked images that were spread across the web have turned out to be true. The iPhone 5 boasts a larger screen, a new dock connector, a faster A6 processor, better sound, iOS6, and of course 4GLTE availability.
Though these features are good steps up from the iPhone 4 they are not quite the major upgrades that most expected. Apple had released the 4 then 4S and now the 5 with very little difference in form factor or feature set.
The biggest changes for most will be the new iOS, 4GLTE, and dock connector. With the supply being depleted so quickly for web pre-orders, the in-store sales are sure to have the usual lines and sellouts as well.
Many users have skipped the iPhone 4 upgrades and have now aging 3 and 3GS phones. The iPhone 5 provides a good transition from one of these devices and will have many flocking to new contracts. The major carriers At&t, Sprint, and Verizon are gearing up for the demand imposing employee vacation restrictions and beefing up their teams for the expected launch.
